AXAF imaging and spectroscopic TOO observations of six (6) gamma-ray burst afterglow sources are proposed. Initial source localizations will be provided by the RXTE/ASM and HETE satellites, supplemented by IPN measurements. AXAF measurements will not only provide arc-second refinements of source localizations, but will accurately measure afterglow decay and spectra, permitting stringent tests of a variety of shock wave geometries and sequelae. The observing team will immediately place all AXAF positions, intensities, and spectroscopic parameters into the public domain via the GCN. Prompt optical (photometric and spectroscopic) and radio followup will also be provided by the proposing team.
