Far-infrared spectroscopy was used to investigate crystalline-to-amorphous phase changes in irradiated solids. Radiation-induced changes at T <= 77 K were studied in four solids of astrochemical interest: H2O, CH3 OH, H2CO, and CO2. Rates of amorphization were compared for H2O and CH3 OH. The behavior of each irradiated sample was observed on subsequent warming. Applications of the data to astronomical problems are given.
