We study the effects of thermal fluctuations on the dynamics of the quark-hadron phase transition assuming the phase transition to be of first order. These fluctuations give rise to a sizable fraction (up to 0.5) of the total volume occupied by the hadronic phase in the form of subcritical bubbles for temperatures near and below the critical temperature (Tc). This suggests that the phase transition will not proceed through homogeneous bubble nucleation. We also discuss the possibility, if any, of percolation of subcritical hadron bubbles and its role in the phase transition.
