Two constraints on the rotation rate of strange stars are examined. The first one results from the observed mass of the binary pulsar, the second from the requirement that strange matter is the ground state of matter. Maximum Keplerian frequency is calculated in the bag model of strange matter. Damping of gravitational radiation reaction instabilities by shear and bulk viscosity is discussed.
