The relation between v/p pulsations and the dynamics of the solar wind and the IMF is analyzed. It is shown that the excitation of these pulsations is determined by the interaction of the earth's magnetosphere with irregularities of the solar wind which have the form of small-scale structural elements of the high-speed stream. It is suggested that certain small-scale structural elements of the high-speed stream can lead to an intensification of reconnection processes at the magnetospheric boundary.
