The QSO 4C 25.05 (emission redshift of 2.360) has a very rich absorption spectrum, especially shortward of the Ly-alpha emission feature at 4086 A. Only one redshift system can be found which identifies enough (11 of 83) absorption lines to be considered unquestionably real. The hypothesis is considered that many of the remaining strong lines are due to Ly-alpha in absorption systems in which most of the lines of other elements are too weak to be seen. Several statistical tests involving the 83 observed absorption lines, weak absorption lines buried in the observational noise, and Ly-alpha/Ly-beta pairs all support this idea. Thirteen redshift systems were found which explain most of the observed absorption lines. The dependence of the equivalent width of Ly-beta on that of Ly-alpha in these systems is consistent with a velocity dispersion in the absorbing clouds in the range from 30 to 55 km/sec.
