The effect of radiation on kinetic Alfven waves is considered. It is shown that finite gyroradius effects can couple the Alfven waves to the radiative condensation mode. For sufficiently strong radiation, the growth rate of the resulting instability can be larger than the Alfven frequency. This instability can lead to enhanced fluctuations in the magnetic field as well as the density and may be of importance in both astrophysical and tokamak plasmas.
