The 8 m-diameter Magellan Telescope will be located at Las Campanas Observatory, Chile. The project is a joint effort of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, the Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Arizona. Conceptual designs for the telescope, enclosure and aluminizing facility are described. A detailed site survey is underway.
