The investigation is concerned with questions regarding the completeness of the absorption of retarded and advanced gravitational waves. The technique used was introduced, in the case of electromagnetic absorption, by Davies (1972). The compatibility of a number of cosmological models with the postulates of three assumptions is studied. It is found that on the basis of these assumptions the considered models would have to be eliminated. Cosmological observations leading to the establishment of the validity of one of these models would, therefore, constitute evidence against at least one of the assumptions.
