The ionization equilibrium of the five-level He ion is considered. It is
shown that the value of mean n(+)(He I)/n(He) can vary slowly in the
electron temperature range of 10 to the 4th to 10 to the 5th K, which
may cause extensive and intense He II line emission. He II ionization
mechanisms are examined.
