A power law fit is applied to spectra of a Pi1B-type magnetic pulsation observed along the Finnish meridional chain of stations. It is shown that the Pi1B power spectrum is well described by a power law in the frequency range 0.2-1.4 Hz. The statistical average of the spectral power index at the observation site where the Pi1B amplitude maximum is observed is - 4.2 + or - 0.6, the index being lower, on average, south and north of this site. The effects of ionospheric screening, signal propagation, and magnetic induction on the spectral index are evaluated, and it is shown that magnetic induction in the earth's crust has little effect on the spectral index in the frequency range considered here.
