X-ray determinations of cluster mass rely on the equation of hydrostatic
equilibrium. Applying this equation to data is awkward since it involves
the derivative of the gas pressure. To date this difficulty has been
avoided by the use of model dependent assumptions. The author addresses
how best to use X-ray data in order to determine mass profile.
