It is shown that recent claims, that a very large number of neutrino species (Nν >~ 6600) are compatible with the cosmological nucleosynthesis of helium, can be ruled out by considering the accompanying yields of helium-3 and deuterium. These exceed observational bounds of several orders of magnitude and we conclude that Nν <~ 3-4.
