We propose two possible scenarios of the behaviour of superheavy magnetic monopoles in a neutron star, in which the monopole-antimonopole annihilation rate is sufficiently large to prevent the enormous heating of a neutron star due to the monopole induced neutron decays. We find that the galactic monopole flux of order 10-16 cm-2 s-1 sterad-1 can be compatible with the observational limit on the X-ray luminosity of neutron stars.
