The Crab Nebula has been recognized for a number of years as but one member of a class of supernova remnants having similar morphology and physical properties. Recent results, however, imply that the number of observable "true" examples of the class may be quite small and that a more extensive third class of remnants, which combines both "shell" and "filled-centre" properties, exists. To give an overview, the identifying properties of all three groupings are outlined and examples are given for the small plerionic (Crab Nebula) and combination classes.
