The velocities of 26 pulsars have been inferred from proper motions measured by a long baseline radio interferometer, and it is noted that these velocities are closely correlated with either the magnetic dipole moments or the moments of inertia of the pulsars derived from a slowdown of their rotation rates. No relation has been found between proper motion directions and pulsar spin axes. Attention is given to explanations of the correlations with velocity, and it is suggested that an asymmetry at the time of neutron star formation is responsible for this effect.
