Energetic neutral atoms (ENAs) originating from the boundaries of the heliosphere provide crucial information on the interaction between the heliosphere and the local interstellar medium. They have been detected by IBEX specifically, an enhanced flux band at energies > ~0.2-6 keV. The Suprathermal Electron (STE) instrument on the STEREO mission, with about 2 orders of magnitude increase in sensitivity over previous sensors at energies below ~20-30 keV, has recently demonstrated its capability to detect ENAs above ~4 keV with images from the Earth's magnetosphere, while it is also sensitive to x-rays. The 8 detectors of STE (four on STEREO A and four on B) perform in total almost 16 full scans of the heliosphere in longitude per year. In this study, we will estimate the STE response to X-rays from galactic sources, e.g., Sco X-1, using the X-ray fluxes measured by RXTE. Then we will remove the background due to galactic X-rays and map the actual >~ 4 keV ENAs produced by the charge exchange of shocked ions in the heliosheath with cold interstellar neutrals.
