The Swedish sounding rocket and balloon program studies: magnetosphere and ionosphere physics, including measurements of charged particles and electrical and magnetic fields; upper atmosphere physics and chemistry, including studies of the composition of the atmosphere at altitudes of 80 to 150 km; astrophysics, comprising ultraviolet and infrared studies of stars and galaxies; and materials science in microgravity, comprising experiments in solidification of alloys and diffusion processes in liquid metals. Studies of photochemistry and transport processes in the atmosphere, active chemical release experiments and hot plasma dynamics in a pulsating aurora are planned.
