Radiative Transfer: Thermal Radiation
Scientific paper
A system of functions on the hemisphere is introduced for the representation of incoming and outgoing surface radiation intensity. These functions are constructed from the polynomial Jn(x), which are orthogonal on the interval (0, 1) with the weight w(x) = x. The expansion of the radiation intensity in the series of hemispherical harmonics in combination with Galerkin's procedure transforms the integral equation of RHT between surfaces to a system of equations for angular moments. For the diffuse and linear-non-diffuse surfaces this system has a very simple form.
