The sodium lidar facility at Colorado State University (40.6°N, 105.0°W) reached the capability of full diurnal cycle observation in May 2002. In this paper, monthly mean sodium density profiles in the mesopause region based on the full diurnal lidar observations from May 2002 to April 2006 will be reported, along with its monthly tidal -period perturbations. Facilitated by the simultaneous lidar temperature measurements, implicating atmospheric density perturbations, the tidal-period perturbation of vertical wind can be deduced and compared with Global Scale Wave Model (GSWM). The relationship between Na density/vertical wind tidal perturbations and the published temperature/horizontal wind tidal perturbations will be investigated.
