The photometric autocalibration of astronomical plates with a half
filter biprism arrangement (heliometer principle) was tested with the
focal reducer system of a 106 cm Cassegrain reflector. Photographic
stellar magnitude scales free of systematic errors can be obtained by
this method in an range of at least 7 m.
