[3315] Atmospheric Processes / Data Assimilation
Scientific paper
Mars Reconaissance Orbiter has performed nearly 14 thousand orbits around Mars and returned a wealth of temperature, dust and water profiles. We use these profiles in a data assimilation project in combination with the Global Mars Multiscale Model. Preliminary tests show that Optimal Interpolation is well suited to fulfill the goals sought in this work: extend the observations' coverage and improve the model's accuracy. In this presentation we will show initial fields obtained through data assimilation that demonstrate the gain in coverage and accuracy.
