The Discrete Ordinate Radiative Transfer (DISORT) model was used to retrieve spectral Lambert albedos from 0.4 to 4.0 μm from Mars Express OMEGA data over layered outcrops in Aram Chaos. Atmospheric carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, water vapor, and dust were modeled, along with both solar and thermal contributions to spectral radiances. Lambert albedos for layered units show the presence of polyhydrated sulfates based on the presence of 1.45,1.9, 2.4, and increased depth of the 3.0 μm absorption features as compared to surrounding areas. The areas with enhanced features also show an enhanced 0.9 μm absorption feature and the spectral patterns between 0.4 and 1.0 μm are consistent with the presence of crystalline hematite.
