Since its start in 1999 the BABAR experiment has collected a vast amount of data. Electron - positron collisions at the energy of the Υ (4S) resonance have produced about 240 million coherent B0/line{B}0 and B+B- pairs, opening the doors for exploration of rare B meson decays. An overview of the electroweak penguin physics program of BABAR is given. The analysis of two specific decays is presented in detail.
