Supernova Remnants, X-Ray Jet

Scientific paper

We present in this paper the X-ray spectrum and the discovery of an X-ray jet associated with supernova remnant (SNR) G54.1+0.3, by using the ASCA and ROSAT data. Its X-ray spectrum can be best fitted with a power law model with photon index -1.9 (+0.1/-0.2), absorbed energy flux in 0.7 - 10.0 keV 6.8×10-12 erg cm-2 s-1, and column density 17.9 (+2.8/-2.5)×1021 cm-2. The X-ray jet points to the northeast with a length about 40" from the center of the remnant and coincides with the radio extension in this direction well. We propose that the X-ray jet is connected with the pulsar embedded in the remnant.
