We propose to observe a long-duration transient or a persistent low-mass X-ray binary when it turns-off and transits in to quiescence. This will give an excellent opportunity to study the effects of prolonged accretion on the quiescent properties of low-mass X-ray binaries. A follow-up observation taken about half a year later will provide important information about the time evolution of the quiescent properties, i.e., the neutron-star cooling time.
