By means of riometers, the occurrence and properties of short-duration cosmic noise absorption events have been studied in nearly conjugate high-latitude regions. It is found that some events appear in both northern and southern hemispheres, but that others appear in one hemisphere only. The extent of events in longitude is discussed. Evidence is presented for the existence of significant and systematic time delays between the occurrence of related events at different places. Some implications regarding the mechanism of the events are pointed out.
