The events surrounding the discovery of one of the first meteorite craters in Kansas are described. The crater, on the Kimberly farm in Kiowa County, was the source of numerous pallasite specimens, recognized as being of meteoric origin. Among these pallasites, (masses of nickel iron enclosing nodules of olivine) which have a rusty look when weathered, were specimens of 68 and 465 lbs. The crater was excavated over a number of years, yielding a total of 1200 lbs of specimens. Finally, notice is taken of a half ton meteorite, one of the largest pallasites in the world, recovered, in 1948 in the vicinity of the Kimberly farm.
