Low energy ion and electron observations taken during the July 29-30, 1977 storm period aboard the S3-3 satellite are presented and discussed. The particle precipitation was very intense, especially on July 29. Enhanced fluxes of low energy particles were observed from the auroral regions down to the plasmasphere. There were observations of downward flowing ions with peaks near 800 eV in the near earth plasma sheet. There is evidence that heavy ions dominate the ring current at low energies. Examples of electron and ion accelerations along the magnetic field lines are presented. The July 29 auroral fluxes do not show broad inverted V structures. Such structures were observed on July 30 and examples of two such structures are discussed. A summary of the particle boundaries for this period is also presented.
