A method is described for determining the fraction of the point-discharge current in a living tree by-passed through a low-resistance galvanometer joining two metal electrodes in the tree. This fraction is found to be small, though constant over a period sufficiently long for the arrangement to provide a useful measure for the point-discharge current in the tree.
