As the method of Kepler to determine the orbit of Mars is well known, his method concerning that of the Earth is much less popular. Kepler obtained a very precise orbit of the Earth from only four well-chosen longitudes of the Sun and of Mars. By trial and error, the orbit was found a circular one, with an eccentricity of 0,01653, the longitude of the perihelion being 100&°19'.
