The Ne/Fe abundance ratio in young stars is presently a riddle. We ask for 60 ks to observe six selected weak-lined T Tauri stars of the TW Hydrae association (TWA) in order to evaluate the Ne/Fe abundance ratio in this region. Two classical T Tauri stars of the association, TW Hya and TWA 5, show very large abundance ratios: Ne/Fe ~ 10 times the solar value. The proposed observations will allow us to distinguish between two different scenarios: (A) this anomalous abundance is common among stars in the TWA, therefore the molecular cloud from which the stars originated had Ne/Fe much higher than cosmic value; (B) the evolutionary stage of TW Hya and TWA 5, still accreting material from their circumsterllar disks, is instead the cause of the enhanced Ne/Fe ratio.
