The present study examines the transient decrease of the Bz (north-south magnetic field) component preceding the sharp dipolarization near the leading edge of fast flow. This transient decrease has been explained by the magnetic island considering the formation of the multiple X lines. On the other hand, we show using three dimensional MHD simulations on the basis of spontaneous fast reconnection model that the formation of the large scale three dimensional plasmoid is also able to explain this decrease. Spontaneous fast magnetic reconnection in the plasma sheet produces large scale plasmoid propagating to the earth and anti-earthward. The magnetic field lines in front of the plasmoid are compressed, and are detected as the transient decrease preceding the dipolarization.
