An analysis of the relationships between latitudinal fine structures of the photospheric plasma differential rotation and solar activity is presented. Greenwich sunspot data and Arcetri photospheric observations made with a refractor of 20 cm and an image of 13.5 cm are used for the analysis. Results show that sunspot activity seems to be lower (as measured by the number and extension of sunspot groups) at latitudes where minima of angular velocity appear.
