A muon pencil beam event recorded in the large cloud chamber at Mt. Norikura Cosmic Ray Laboratory in 1963 and characterized by the parallel propagation of five charged particles through 21 layers of 1-cm thick lead plates within a 10-cm diameter cylinder is interpreted as the cascade decay of a beauty meson pair. It is shown that the observations are consistent with a total cross section for beauty meson pair and X particle production from two protons which scales according to the inverse of the mass-squared and the cube of the log of the energy, resulting in a beauty meson pair production cross section of 150 microbarns at an incident energy of about 2000 TeV.
