A numerical analysis of the formation of N and NO at heights of 50-250 km is presented. Attention is given to the influence of the O(1D) + N2 yields NO + N reaction on the height distribution of N and NO in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere. It is shown that this reaction has a significant effect on the distribution of NO and leads to a good agreement between theoretical and experimental results.
