The influence of the interplanetary magnetic field on the earth's diurnal rotation is studied on the basis of data on the sector structure of the IMF and on variations of the length of the terrestrial day in the period 1968-1974. It is shown that the earth's rotation speeds up in IMF sectors with a positive field direction and slows down in sectors with a negative direction.
