Magnetic flux concentrations at 1.01 solar radii, and the assumption of a current-free, or potential, field are used in a model of polar coronal plumes. For model conditions of a large background magnetic field and a plume separation of between 50,000 and 70,000 km at the base, the identification of plume density enhancement with magnetic flux concentration produces agreement between 1.01 and 1.10 solar radii. Beyond the latter figure, both plumes and the potential field diverge approximately as r-squared.
