The authors have used quantitative analytical transmission electron microscope techniques to determine the compositions of both the clinobronzite lamellae and host orthopyroxenes in lunar norites and diogenites and the exsolved augite in 72255. The compositions of the host phase and the measured widths of the augite lamellae have been employed in a computer simulation of cooling histories of these orthopyroxenes using the modified computer program of Miyamoto and Takeda (1977). Although the models are not yet completely developed, the cooling rates thus obtained may yield some constraints on depth of crystallization of pristine nonmare rocks in the lunar crust.
