It is found from Hakucho observations that the soft transients, namely 2S1608-522, 2S1715-321, CenX-4 and AqlX-1, all generate X-ray bursts. This is seen as suggesting that these sources involve neutron stars. In addition, the optical counterpart of AqlX-1 (with the X-ray quiescent) is identified as approximately a KO dwarf, thereby providing evidence that AqlX-1 is a binary of a late dwarf and a neutron star. It is noted that soft transients in the flare state are similar in X-ray and optical properties to what are referred to as bulge sources. This, together with the high association observed of soft transients and bulge sources with bursters, is seen as indicating similarities of both to AqlX-1. The flare-up of the soft transients is believed to be caused by episodic mass accretion.
