The INTEGRAL mission has conducted a survey of the inner Galaxy region as part of its core program. Interesting results have been obtained for diffuse emissions in the continuum from X-rays to MeV energies, and from lines attributed to positron annihilation, and to radioactive isotopes ^26Al and ^60Fe. Additionally, compact sources (steady and variable) have been surveyed. This paper will review results after two mission years in the areas of interstellar diffuse emission and its origin, the number of compact high-energy sources in this region, positron annihilation conditions, and sources of fresh nucleosynthesis products.
