Scientific paper

We review the three-dimensional group manifold reductions of pure
Einstein gravity and we exhibit a new consistent group manifold
reduction of gravity when the compactification group manifold is
S3. The new reduction leads to a lower dimensional theory
whose gauge group is SU(2).
