The results of a program of photoelectric photometry for a complete
sample of red stars down to V = 17.5 mag near the north galactic pole
are reported. The space density is similar to that found for late-type
main-sequence stars in the immediate solar neighborhood. One star,
G164-47, is found to be only 16 pc from the sun.
