The paper reviews hadronic production of charmed and other favorite particles. It is known that in the G.I.M. model the expected lifetime of a charmed particle is in the range of 4 times 10 to the -13th power to 2 times 10 to the -12th power sec, and that charm production cross-sections in the 5-20 micro b range for 400 GeV proton-proton interactions are expected from quantum chromodynamics. It is shown that information on charmed particle lifetimes and cross-sections from counter, beam-dump, and accelerator or cosmic-ray emulsion experiments converges on values consistent with these theories. The confirmation of perturbative Q.C.D. for calculating hadronic cross-sections of heavy particles was discussed, concluding that future activities will involve production of heavy particles using Fermilab's energy doubler on a heavy nuclear target.
