The NEIGE experiment (Netlander Ionosphere and Geodesy Experiment) will perform ultra-precise measurements of the radio Doppler shifts between a set of small stations on the surface of Mars and an orbiter, and between this orbiter and the Earth. From the analysis of these measurements, we will be able to model the gross internal structure of Mars and monitor the balance of volatiles (ice caps versus atmosphere) during the course of the Martian year. The NEIGE experiment will fly in 2007-2009.
