High resolution X-ray spectroscopy of young stellar objects clearly indicates that in classical T~Tauri stars the physical properties of the cooler X-ray emitting plasma are strongly influenced by accretion and outflow processes. The detailed characteristics apparently depend on stellar parameters like mass and radius; however, especially low mass stars are missing in the the existing X-ray data of young, accreting stars. The proposed observation of DN Tau will extend the current sample into the mass regime of M dwarf precursors and intends to derive a more comprehensive picture of the pre-main sequence evolution of low mass stars.
