Coronal Mass Ejections
Scientific paper
The internal geometry of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is complicated and prescribed by initial and boundary conditions. Simplified models of coronal and heliospheric dynamical processes are described with the main attention paid to different dimensionless parameters and dominant physical regimes for ejecta and their substructures, which are multi-scale and non-local ones. We address two open questions discussed in the literature: 1) what is the correspondence degree between the three-part structure seen in the CME images and their heliospheric counterparts measured by spacecraft? 2) Why do we see He+ ions so rarely in the driver gas? Tentative answers follow from the geometry and dynamics considerations.
