A powerful solar flare on 6 December last year produced so much radio noise that GPS signals were significantly affected, according to researchers from Cornell University. This raises the question of how badly such systems would be affected at solar maximum.
NASA and the British National Space Centre have signed a historic agreement to study jointly how the two space agencies might work together on future planetary explorations to the Moon and beyond, including a feasibility study on a possible collaborative lunar robot programme.
