The effect of magnetic activity on equatorial spread-F is investigated in terms of Kp indices. Data obtained at three equatorial stations during a sunspot maximum and a sunspot minimum are employed in the analysis. It is found that although the overall correlation between spread-F and magnetic activity is negative, the occurrence of spread-F initially decreases with increasing values of the daily sum of Kp indices but begins to increase at higher values of that daily sum.
