Radiometers aboard the Venera 9 and 10 probes, operating in the 8-13 and
18-28 micron ranges, observed thermal infrared emission from the Venus
cloud layer (at heights of 64-67 km). Brightness temperatures obtained
from the measurements and atmospheric models were used to determine the
height of the upper region of the cloud layer.
